Description
What is UV disinfection?
Disinfection generally means a reduction of around 99.999% of the pathogens present in the water. A dosage level of 400 J/m² is required to achieve this level of disinfection. The operational settings of the Bewades systems are calculated using numerical computer simulation, guaranteeing a UV dosage of at least 400 J/m². This dosage level has been biodosimetrically proved in the ‘N’ range systems and certified in accordance with ÖNORM M5873-1.
The number of UV disinfection systems installed is growing steadily and this ecologically-sound process is being used in an increasing range of applications owing to its extensive functionality and ease of use.
The BWT Bewades UV disinfection process will have no effect on the:
- Water hardness
- pH value
- Taste
- Smell
- Colour of the treated water
Bewades N
Safe desinfection according to the norm.
Intended use
The Bewades N UV disinfection unit is used to disinfect drinking water. In general, disinfection means a 99.99% reduction in the pathogenic germs found in drinking water (4 log levels).
The standard unit is always used when highly controlled microbiological requirements are applied to the water and a certified unit (e.g. ÖNORM M 5873-1, DVGW Worksheet W294) is required
For all series N BWT Bewades UV disinfection units, a UV fluence (dosage) of 400J/m2 has been biodosimetrically verified. This leads to a loss of the ability of the micro-organisms in the water to multiply (reproductive cell death), so they no longer pose a danger to human health.
The UV disinfection process does not change the chemistry, pH value, colour or taste of the water.
In Austria, the unit must be operated in accordance with ÖNORM M 5873-1.
In Germany, the unit must be operated in accordance with the DVGW Worksheet W294 part 1 (see also TrinkwV §11).
